My idea for spears is that they are similar to two-handed swords, only a bit weaker but they should be able to have incredible reach to hit monsters from further away than other weapons can (excluding bows). Their special skills would be similar to two handed sword, like I said above, weaker and more range. What do you guys think of it?

Eehh, maybe have the same damage but are slower. Dunno tho cause spears seem like they would do more damage than a sword since you can block a sword more than you can a spear

Lower-damage, two-handed weapon that specializes in boosted FX (knockback, piercing/pinning, affinity for spirit cubes, etc.); throwable, must be retrieved.

Has potential, I'm always up for diversifying the weapon types.

Some military spears have been over sixteen feet long (five meters), and that would either be amazing or just one of those things that makes you go wtf...

Throwing spears on the other hand would be great if you could have multiple to throw, but slower than the bow by a decent amount

A giant heavy blade with the same damage as a petty spear head?
Doesn't seem like it.
Another thing is that spears are only lethal with their tips, so you would have the stab them which just goes straight ahead, you can't swipe a bunch of enemies with it like a great sword can.
That would make the great sword having lower reach but much more attack range, probably about a 160 degree attack range.
Halberds however could stab AND swipe!

Yeah, except they're not just pointy sticks...they've got a blade on the end, which essentially makes it a knife on a stick.

Still effective enough for me, and you can use the long handle to knock enemies back (minor damage) and then keep hurting with the pointy end.

Halberds would be a great choice, but I'm worried it would just be seen as 'a long axe' by some people.

LISTEN, I WAS IN A HURRY! I settled for the first large-looking sword I could stumble upon. =P

Speaking of swords on fire, I hope mages can set other players' weapons on fire...that'd be pretty neat.

A buff subclass of a Mage would be nice. Having things like tanks and support or healers would make the games fights more complex I bet

I think that if you have spears there concept can go two ways. One is something that charges and does most of its damage in that way or throwing spears. Both should have shields but a lighter version than that of a heavy armored fighter. With a spear users as a melee class the light shield could be used to knock back foes but thinking about the combat in most of the videos on this site you can easily make distance between your self and enemies or just charge from one to another. Throwing spears should have more of a punch than arrows from bows but be slowwer. I think if they had more damage and the same speed they would be way to OP.

Spears are a very good idea, also the certain skills others suggested for spear. (you should start out with wooden *insert your chosen starting weapon here*)

Spears that can be thrown that are also attached to your player's arm via rope or chain?
