I don't think the release is more than 1 month away if he's working on a website, AND TOUCHING UP THE SOUND ENGINE. I mean, you'd probably do something like that last, because it's a polish, not a huge implementation (not that sound means nothing in a game).

I don't think rushing Wollay will achieve anything besides a game worse then intended.maybe we just keep spamming him that cw community is dying or something

...And, well, I'll say it. I am losing interest in CubeWorld.
3 reasons:
(1) Release date. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Wollay has not given us an estimated release date for the game now that Q1 has come and gone. He needs to pick a date and stick with it as best he can. He doesn't even appear to be wrapping up any time soon, aside from this "mysterious homepage" business, but we know nothing about what that could be. I love the stuff he's put together so far, but he needs to finish what he's doing and respect his previous estimated release date as best as he can, or give another estimated date and try twice as hard to release the game by then.
(2) Name. He's stated that the game name is not going to be "Cube World"...and that's all he's said about it. It's quite aggravating to have to cautiously refer to the game as "Cube World" with the knowledge that the game isn't actually called "Cube World." We need a name, pronto. Especially since the estimated release date has passed, it makes sense we should at least know what to call the thing. Give us the name, Wollay.
(3) Development proceedings. In the early days of Cube World previews, it was fine that he didn't release many details, such as when he was going to release it or what kind of genre it was going to be based on specifically (which we now know is more RPG than sandbox). But now that he has such a large fanbase and he's late to release the game, he needs to tell us where he is in the process of developing the game. Currently, we have no idea. How much more content is he planning to add? How many more classes? Races? Enemies? He could have a huge list of them, and he's just now finished clouds and mountains. What percentage of the game is done, Wollay? 90%? 75%? 50%? Heck, is 90% of it still unfinished? Tell us what you have left to do, Wollay. Then, if you're still adamant about not telling us when you're releasing Cube World, we can make our own estimates.
---
Overall, the fact that this whole forum has been in a hype about the game for so long has worn me down. I was really looking forward to this game, but now that Q1 has gone and there's no release date in sight, I'm tempted to jump ship and come back when Wollay decides to actually release the danged thing.
But I'll admit...are we entitled to know the release date? Or how much of the game is done? Or any other details for that matter? No. We're not. We don't own Wollay or the game.
But the fact is that Wollay dug himself into a hole, if you will, with his previews of Cube World. He garnered a large fanbase with the previews alone. That's impressive. But with this fanbase comes expectations. Wollay must pay tribute to those expectations, or he will lose prospective customers. Wollay's done a pretty good job of giving us pictures and videos of the game in action. But these only delay our inevitable abandonment of interest in the game if he doesn't give us the finished product, and soon.
I want to help Wollay through this post. Even though he may never read this, I hope that somehow he gets the message:
Wollay, release this game soon. You're losing fans.
EDIT: Before you post anything on this thread, please read the entire thread. Read it all. I'm growing tired of having to correct rebuttals that could easily be refuted if the poster just read everything that I and others have posted. There's more to the thread than the OP. Thank you.

Oh, and if you want Wollay to see this, you could always send him a tweet.
EDIT:
Cube world is not yet released. The best estimate we have is Q1 2012, meaning the first quarter of 2012. However, this is just an estimate and subject to change.

There has been a similar the situation with Scrolls, from Mojang:
Very high level of excitement, based on awesome previews of the game -> slow, unsatisfying trickle of information, excitement dwindling.
Now I don't even want information about Scrolls anymore, because it just irritates me I can't play the Alpha yet; Cube World, given no change, will go the same way.

What rex has stated is very true.Heck, hate to say it Muddy, but it's not his fault. One day he decided to post on his blog (Or twitter, whatever) to say he was starting to make a game for the fun of it. http://wollay.blogsp...cube-world.html is the post. He didn't tell anyone to go and create a big fan forum, to get all hyped up about this game. But some loyal fan did, and it's great. I don't even know if wollay was going to sell the game at first. Now he is. It's his choice when to release it, his choice to reveal things in the game, and his choice whether he'll tell us the name of it or not. His choice to decide if and when he can or will release an alpha.
I do respect your opinions muddy but I think he should take as long as he like, but I do agree with you that he should
give us some updates, it doesn't take an hour to tweet a simple update.
I can see that a few other of you people are slowly leaking your excitement for this game, I think I'm different, I'm
still incredibly hyped up for this game, no different from day one, still checking the forums, Wollay's blog and his twitter
every time I have a chance.
That's just me.

EDIT:

I see where you're coming from, and this was what I was attempting to address when I mentioned we weren't entitled to the game or any information from Wollay.
He has the right to tell us whatever he wants and to keep from us whatever information he wishes. He never signed a contract that said "You are now required to post one video a week, etc." I understand this and I have no issue with it.
However, he did bring this upon himself. He recognized that a fanbase as large as this existed (how could he not?) and he fed it...a lot. With previews of new features he was including in the game. Unfortunately, he hyped us (the fanbase/forum) prematurely.
Let me explain.
Earlier this year (I believe it was) I joined the forum as well as hundreds of others, primarily because of a viral video based off of the already-released previews of Cubeworld and (in my case) the collapsing Terraria Online community. Meanwhile, Wollay gave us screenshots of dungeons, towns, blueprints, enemies, and more. This was, as I see it, the peak of the fanbase's interest in CubeWorld. I was checking the site every day, myself.
As of late, we've been getting fewer (and, in my opinion, less interesting) updates on the game. I'm not going to draw a graph, but if I did it would show that the fanbase's interest has been steadily declining, consequently, with the scarcity of updates from Wollay.
Tl;dr, Wollay's mistake is that he hyped the community way to early, without proper follow-ups or communication regarding the development of the game once the estimated release date (which nearly everyone believed in, regardless if it was "subject to change") had passed.
Also, I'm not sure if I made this clear, but I'm not mad/angry/whathaveyou at Wollay for not releasing the game at the estimated release date. As I said, I want to help him by communicating to him that his fanbase is expecting more from him, whether he planned for said fanbase or not. Regarding the current situation, it is what it is. And, unfortunately, without some more details on what exactly is going on behind the scenes and how much of the game is complete, his community is going to disintegrate. That's my message.

At first, I found the topic title a little insulting, but felt myself agreeing with the general sentiment of your points.

I don't mean to get anyone riled up. I truly do wish the best for Wollay, but I want him to realize that a fanbase can easily collapse if neglected for too long and/or not properly handled.
Also, I really haven't been following Scrolls, but every time I hear someone talking about it, it's always still in development...fortunately Mojang has Minecraft in its pocket so its fans are probably a bit more tolerant, eh?

Oh, there's also another thing that I just thought of. I'm pretty sure YellowLord already said it, but I didn't really get what he was saying when I read it. The decrease in updates may be due to the fact that he's finished adding new content, and is instead improving/nitpicking/fixing the old content. So the release probably isn't too far off.
If this is true, then it would greatly benefit Wollay if he himself confirmed the decreasing flow of updates was associated with a nearing release.

Given that the longest dry spell before that was maybe 2 weeks, I think we're all just frustrated about no update.
