You could also say "world to the third power" or "world to the power of three".

... Hmm, "world to the third power" sounds vaguely like a reference to the Third Reich...



Maybe calling it "world cubed" would be better then. >_>

Fun Fact: wollay wants to change the game‛s name from "Cube World" because that‛s already the name of a toy.

Problem is that "Cube World" is already something else.


So, Wollay confirmed that Cube World is just the development name, and that he'd pick out a different one for the actual release. Supposedly, he has it picked already, but simply hasn't told any of us yet.

Yeah, it was. I am curious as to what the name really will be... It better be good, with him trying to keep it a secret and all.

Besides, what will these forums have to offer? Will there be clan servers posted? Will you have boss fight walkthroughs? Are you giving away Beta keys? What will you have to keep the average joe interested here?

A great community, because the people who don't really want to be here are going to jump-ship and head to the official one, for the sole reason that they're official. For example, take the difference between Bungie's official forums & the various Halo fan forums. The fan forums were widely recognized as better places to be, because the official forums were just a disappointing quagmire of unreadable posts and low-quality threads. On forums created by fans, there's an emphasis on quality over quantity. Even if the number of members on an official forum is ten-fold, it doesn't make it ten times better; if anything, it makes it much worse, and drowns each individual member out.

Will there be clan servers posted? Will you have boss fight walkthroughs? Are you giving away Beta keys?

• A whole new site for server listings is already mostly finished.
• Even though the game's content isn't predetermined, we do plan on having written guides available.
• We've specifically discussed giveaways, and will likely (but not certainly) plan one if gifting keys is an option.

And why would we do that stuff? Not because we care if you stay, but because we love the game and love this community. There's no reason to have that 'what will you have to offer me?' attitude. Right now, this forum is entirely out-of-pocket & ad-free, so having traffic doesn't provide some kind of ad revenue. Obviously we'd like to have a lot of members to keep a great community going, but if people want to leave because we're not official, then that's their choice. =(

Everyone here is just excited about a new game coming out. You said it yourself, this site isn't profitting from hit. Everyone just likes the concept of this game and your site was the first to really start advertising for Cube World. What does it matter if you lose a few people to the official forums? Either way, you're fans of the game and have a plan to keep the site up.

But come on, posting who's staying, who's going and who's on the fence is childish. You're part of the News Team, act like it and keep it professional. That's what will win you some points.

Oh, I really wasn't trying to put people on the spot; people have already posted their decisions, and I was simply putting that together so it was easier to see who we might lose. Also, most of the people in the third section said 'I'll use both', and there's nothing wrong with that! =) I sincerely didn't make the list to try to shame anyone, it's just useful to condense information.

What, because I put all the names in one spot? If I had prefaced the names with something like "here are the people who are going to abandon us!" or something equally derisive, that would've been way different. I suppose if you use my previous post as context for the list, that does make it seem like I was trying to shame them or something...I guess I didn't realize how that looked, I apologize for that. At the same time though, you have to remember that people already posted what they might do. I don't think there's anything wrong with bringing that up, because their staying or going will have an effect on the site. Being a member of the staff, I think it's doubly important for us to consider who will be sticking with the site. Anyway, to reiterate: I do apologize for the juxtaposition of my two posts implying a negative connotation for the list, but I still believe the list itself is okay. =)
