Hello community members, recently the staff have sat down and voted upon some policy changes. Ranging from posts, Access to functionality, post quality and moderation rules. With the recent drop in post quality, members rushing to get access to account features and the disorganization of certain forum areas. We have updated the Community Guidelines to reflect the changes listed below.

1) Custom titles have now been entirely removed, when users got to 500 posts they could change their user-title to suit their profile. This feature has now been removed, because of members rushing to gain access to this feature and abusing it.

Users will be rewarded with custom titles when we feel they have contributed quality posts, won forum competitions and behaved as friendly useful members of the community.

2) Users can no longer change their Display Names, Some users have been using this feature to impersonate others and / or spam the forum with large bold usernames that stand out too much.

Users can request Display Names changes once every 3 months by contacting an administrator. Some users may be given direct change access as a result of rewards in competitions or as a result of contributing a lot to the community.

We are also cutting down on existing usernames that we feel should be changed and will be contacting members directly about changing their usernames.

3) Moderators will now be giving out more infractions for breaking forum policy, we have been friendly and giving users a chance to settle down on the forum. However we feel that the quality of the forum is starting to drop. As a result we will be providing (1-3) point infractions for breaking the forum policy. Users will be given a warning as always for first time offenses in some minor cases.

4) Meme, off-topic and spam posting is now being moderated more strictly. A fair amount of users are posting image macros and/or memes and taking threads off-topic. We will be clamping down on this to ensure the quality of posts reaches a certain level. The odd one or two memes now and again is fine however.

5) The off-topic section is being moderated more closely, some game types are being removed as it promotes bad quality posts. A lot of games are very similar and un-needed. There will be a pinned post in that section to reflect on this policy change. Not many games will be effected by this.

6) We have removed the option for animated avatars, this option is being used too often and is starting to hurt peoples eyes. Some animations are too flashy and we feel that it is being abused somewhat. Not to mention it can effect users on phones, tablets or slow connections.

7) We have increased the forum signature size to reflect user creativity and demands, you now have a space of "500x55" to create stunning forum signatures. With can be animated as long as it isn't too large in file size.

Don't forget to report any and all content you feel shouldn't be on the forum :)

Regards,
CubeWorldForum.org Staff

Hopefully this will make the forums nicer from now on.

What about the people who already have custom titles, will you be taking those away?

Users with existing user titles will be unaffected by the change, unless their title is something we feel doesn't belong on the forum.

Indeed, but on the bright side you have now almost twice the size for forum signatures :)

Yeah, I can have my sort of "Stamp" signature that I tried getting.

Until I get that up, I have this little tiny Pinkie Pie head. I'm about to change that though.

I don't see anything wrong with it. And can't you put rules on signatures specifically? Like "Not too flashy", or "Keep it simple"?

Yeah, for the most part.

Its fits within the resolution for tablets and small screen PCs
It gives users enough space without being too flashy and taking up too much space.
It doesn't take the main focus from content and posts.

We'll see how it goes, if it doesn't turn out so well we can change it at anytime.

Glad the user feedback has been well so far :)

These changes are exactly what is needed to move the forums into a more professional direction, and make it more organised when the game releases and we supposedly get a lot of people :)

There's one moderation point that always irks me, and wasn't mentioned in the post (AFAIK) which is Necro-posting. If it isn't already, it would be nice to have that clamped down of as it is just useless and annoying. Take up your news feed for nothing!

Anyway, great move forward guys, impressed as always :)

I have a few more small suggestions... but all for the suggestion section :)

Alright, these are some good changes! A bit saddened about not being able to get my custom title. But it's not like I was close anyways, only have about ~250 posts here. Good changes though.

2 quick questions:

(1) My animated avatar is still working...should I remove it, or is it just a general rule that from now on no more are allowed?

(2) My thread "Wollay, You're Losing Fans" seems to have been merged into another thread titled "Its been awhile". My OP from the former thread appears a few posts down from the OP of the latter, and it looks very out of place. Was this intentional or did something mess up? I would think "Its been awhile" would rather be merged into my thread, seeing as mine is larger. Just curious.

2 - It doesn't matter which thread you merge with because all posts are sorted by date anyway. I don't know why it was merged, but I guess due to redundancy.

You're still able to be rewarded with a custom title by being a good forum poster. ( Obeying all the rules, using good grammar, being helpfull.)
I'm not sure about question one, but I know they are not allowed at all. So it's good to change it.

For the most part, it's good, but I was looking forward to spending some time in creating a cool animated avatar... I can get more creative with them then I can with banners (signatures). I didn't find them slowing at all ^^. You should add option for people to choose: "Only show first frame in animated avatar" so it won't slow them. :)

Why do you ban animated avatars for being distracting and slowing down the site, but allow signatures to be animated?

Signatures don't load on all pages, they also don't load on the Ajax Profile Card, Users can also select to hide signatures or disable them entirely from their view.

No, you can suggest content and features by going to the website suggestion thread.

Trust me this is a good signature size.

I love the policy changes here. Except for a few but I won't get into that.
Also the big bold display name thing only happened once which was by me for a day  .
I also never saw any abuse for the titles. I thought that the changable titles were fine.
