Cave Story+ is really good, it's on Steam. King Arthur's Gold is great, and free.

It's an AMAZING game and in my opinion it's a GOTY candidate.

I was thinking of some other game like Terraria, but then I saw Qbic's post about Fez.
The game looks astonishing, I will be sure to purchase it when it comes out.

Dude, it's been out for three weeks. At the time being it's an Xbox 360 exclusive though, but I wouldn't be surprised if the developers end up porting it to PC.

That's why I said when it comes out <_<
Sorry for writing the easily misunderstood post.

FEZ looks cool. I've seen the turning around in 2D idea before, but this looks executed much better.

I'm actually going to talk about the game in front of my class next week and since you seem interested in the game I guess I could share a rough draft with you. Semi-long read, but it's spoiler free so don't worry ;)
Spoiler
FEZ

After over five years of development and countless awards before it was even released, indie developer Phil Fish’s first game Fez finally hit Xbox Live Arcade just over a week ago (2012-04-13).

The protagonist Gomez, a white indeterminate creature with a rectangle-shaped head, lives in a village on a peaceful floating island together with his family and friends in a two-dimensional pixelated world, completely unaware of the third dimension. One day, a mysterious golden hexahedron (in other words, a cube) appears and grants Gomez a magical fez that reveals the previously unknown third dimension to him. The hexahedron then disintegrates into hundreds of fragments scattered all across the world – and of course Gomez is the one who gets to clean up the mess.

The controls and basic premise of the game is just like any other generic platformer – move to the left or right using the left analog stick and jump with the A button. What brings this game apart from similar titles is that you at any time – even mid-air – can rotate the world 90 degrees with a single press on the right or left trigger. Because the character still moves on a two-dimensional plane and treats foreground and background objects alike this could mean that the path to that previously inaccessible platform suddenly becomes obvious.

Let’s say you encounter a gap that you can’t jump no matter how hard you try. Flip the world 90 degrees – you now have a floating platform in the foreground covering up the gap and can walk across with no effort at all.

To “beat” the game and see the ending you are required to collect 32 golden cubes. The path to these cubes is always clear and you neither need skill nor brainpower to collect them all. There are no enemies whatsoever and if you fall off the edge of the world you instantly respawn at the nearest safe platform. All you really need to do is flip the world to the left or right until they become accessible. The true charm of Fez doesn’t become apparent until you realize there’s much more depth to the game than simply collecting these fragments.

To 100% the game and see the true ending you are required to collect 32 deep blue anti-cubes. How, where and when to find these cubes is vaguely hinted at, but the rest is completely up to you and you’re going to have to go through a whole lot of problem solving to lay your hands on them. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself sitting in your couch with a pen and paper trying to decipher the Fez alphabet in search for additional clues or figuring out the correct button-press sequence to open a door. Whatever you do, DON’T give up and go to GameFAQs looking for the solutions. Few things beat the sense of accomplishment Fez offers when you finally figure out how to solve that puzzle you’ve been struggling with for the last three hours.

The fantastic music by Disasterpeace deserves a mention too. It’s a perfect mix of ambient chiptunes that really enhance the atmosphere and feel of the game. I found myself stopping at some points just to enjoy the music.

The game has a few flaws though. It stutters and lags somewhat whenever it autosaves (which, sadly, it does every time you go from one room to another) and there are a few glitches of the kind where you fall through the map every now and then. The game is only about 12-15 hours long and I couldn’t help but to feel very empty after I had finished the game. DLC and whatnot would be impossible to implement without having it look extremely forced because of the way the game was developed. Had I been in charge of the title I’d try to develop it in a more modular way to allow future expansions.

These minor issues aside don’t take away from the fact that in my eyes, this is one of the best gaming experiences of 2012. It’s not perfect and it’s definitively not a game for everyone, but for someone like me it’s a huge milestone in gaming without really revolutionizing any mechanics or concepts. Fez is best summed up by a quote from one of the critters living in the protagonist’s hometown –”Reality is perception. Perception is subjective.”

Fez actually sounds like super paper mario, where you can change dimensions.

Nope no Multiplayer.
Well you fly against other meteorites till you become a planet.
Later you can become a life planet than a small star then middle star big star and then a black hole.
Till you are so big that you suck the whole universe up and then it begins again.

Ace of Spades, a minecraft format (uses blocks in 3d) sandbox/shooter game. It's pretty cool, but there isn't much to it yet. Just a time killer for now.

Braid and LIMBO.

Braid is the first game in a long time that's truly stumped me over and over again. Probably the greatest puzzle game I've played. Just don't look up the ending, or you'll have the subliminal story ruined for you.

LIMBO is awesome because of the atmosphere it presents so well. It's not especially scary like Amnesia or anything, but it has a really creepy, eerie atmosphere and it's nothing like any game I've played. You really have to play it to get the feel of the game; it's not something you can simply watch gameplay of on YouTube and be done with.
